Cycladic Identity in Paros: a two-day event series on education, gastronomy and local memory
The Cycladic Identity Initiative of the Museum of Cycladic Art is organizing a two-day programme of public events in Paros on Saturday, April 18 and Sunday, April 19, 2026, focusing on education, gastronomic heritage, sustainability, and the stories and memories of the island.
The events will take place at the Paros Municipal Arts Venue (Dimitrakopoulos Building), with the support of the Municipality of Paros. They aim to explore the role of education in connecting younger generations with their home place, the relationship between local food traditions and sustainability, and the power of personal storytelling as a bridge between the past and the future.
On Saturday, April 18, from 18:00 to 20:10, the programme includes opening remarks followed by two public discussions. The first will examine the role of education in shaping local identity and strengthening the bond between young people and their community. The second will highlight the importance of local production, gastronomic tradition and sustainability, through the experiences of producers and professionals connected to Paros’ primary sector.
On Sunday, April 19, from 17:00 to 19:00, the storytelling workshop “Stories and Memories of Paros” will take place, led by Dr Angeliki Kosmopoulou and Kostis Sfyrikidis. Participants are invited to bring a small object connected either to Paros or to their own memories of the island, and through simple hands-on exercises they will learn how to shape and share short personal stories.
Admission is free, but registration is required to reserve a seat.
